Pet Ultrasound at Home
Accurate diagnosis. Calm environment. Care that comes to you.
Accurate diagnosis. Calm environment. Care that comes to you.
Ultrasound can reveal a great deal about your pet’s health – from organ function and internal structure to signs of illness that can’t be seen from the outside. Having this done at home allows for fast, accurate decision-making without the stress of a clinic visit.
Tim offers point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) during home visits across Windsor and the surrounding areas, bringing professional-grade diagnostics directly to your door.
Why Choose a Home Ultrasound
Visiting the vet can be stressful for pets – especially cats, older dogs, or animals in discomfort. With an at-home ultrasound, your pet can stay relaxed in their own familiar surroundings while Tim performs the scan safely and gently.
Benefits include:
- Reduced stress and anxiety for your pet
- No travel or waiting room time
- Faster insight into your pet’s health
- Comfort and convenience for you and your family
This is especially suited to older or anxious pets who find travel difficult or stressful.
What an At-Home Ultrasound Can Show
An ultrasound gives a real-time look inside your pet’s body, allowing Tim to assess key organs and detect issues early.
Common uses include:
- Checking the liver, kidneys, spleen, bladder and heart
- Identifying masses, fluid build-up or inflammation
- Investigating digestive problems or weight loss
- Monitoring chronic conditions or changes over time
With this information, Tim can make more accurate decisions about next steps – whether that means further tests, medication, or treatment options.
What an Ultrasound can’t show
Ultrasound relies on ultrasonographic contrast between different tissues so cannot give information on the cell types within an organ and the waves are reflected completely by bone so is not useful for skeletal structures or organs with bony surrounds such as the brain or the spinal cord.
While the portable ultrasound can provide a surprising amount of detail, considering its small size, it is not a substitute for the detail and features of hospital based scanners.
How It Works
Initial consultation: Tim will talk with you about your pet’s health and determine whether an ultrasound is appropriate.
Home visit: Tim brings his portable ultrasound equipment to your home.
Quick, gentle scan: The procedure is non-invasive and usually well-tolerated. Most pets can remain on their bed or a comfortable mat. In most cases, gentle restraint from their owner is enough.
Immediate discussion: You’ll receive clear explanations of what’s seen during the scan and advice on any recommended next steps.
